Ritual is built around a single act of practice. Its privacy posture follows the same principle: collect as little as possible, surface what we do collect, and never sell your data.

What we collect

Ritual does not require an account and can be used locally. Practice happens in your browser; the only optional sharing is the 6away Engine Contribution described below, which you can turn off anytime.

  • Practice data (streak, duration, intention, last session) is stored locally in your browser, and synced to your account if you sign in. It is not otherwise shared — except for the optional 6away Engine Contribution described below.
  • Local Field samples are computed in your browser from crypto.getRandomValues(). The raw samples are never transmitted.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider may record standard request metadata (IP, user agent, timestamp) for security and reliability. We do not use this data for tracking.

6away Engine Contribution

Ritual can contribute anonymous, structured observations from your completed sessions to help improve the 6away Engine's understanding of ritual-state patterns. It is optional and on by default; you can turn it off anytime in Settings, and Ritual works fully with it off.

  • Only structured session summaries are sent — duration, intention, session depth and stability, interruptions, and (when Body Signal is on) derived heart-rate and HRV summary numbers.
  • Never any journal, reflection, transcript, or free-form text — Ritual doesn't ask for those, and none are sent.
  • Never raw sensor data: camera video and raw heartbeat (RR) intervals stay on your device; only the derived summaries leave it.
  • No cross-workspace or cross-account data is shared.
  • With contribution off, nothing from your sessions is sent — Ritual stays fully local-only.

What we do not collect

  • No third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
  • No microphone access. Camera and Bluetooth heart-sensor are opt-in and off by default.
  • No medical or diagnostic claims. Body Signal is observational only, and the Local Field is not a measurement of you.
  • We never sell your data.

Cookies

Ritual does not set tracking cookies. Functional storage in your browser — localStorage and a small preferences cookie (for example, your language and your Engine Contribution choice) — remembers your settings for the next session.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent your information. The only thing we share is the optional, anonymous 6away Engine Contribution described above — and only while you have it turned on. If law enforcement makes a lawful request, we will respond as required by law and notify affected users where permitted.

Children

Ritual is not directed to children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
