Terms of use.
These terms govern your use of ritual.guru and the Ritual app at app.ritual.guru (together, “Ritual”). By using Ritual, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
What Ritual is
Ritual is a tool for contemplative practice — a ritual engine for mind, body, and field. It plays synthesized sounds, runs a timed ritual, can optionally observe body rhythm through a Bluetooth heart-rate sensor or an experimental camera pulse, and renders an experimental Local Field indicator derived from device randomness. Ritual is not a medical device, not a clinical instrument, and not a substitute for professional advice.
Body Signal
Body Signal is optional and off by default. It can read pulse from a Bluetooth heart-rate sensor or, experimentally, from the camera; heart-rate variability is available with compatible Bluetooth sensors. All of it is observational: Ritual makes no diagnosis and computes no stress, recovery, or readiness score. It is not medical, and must not be relied on for health decisions.
Use of the service
You may use Ritual for personal, non-commercial practice. You agree not to:
- misuse the service or attempt to disrupt its operation,
- scrape, copy, or republish its content for commercial purposes, or
- reverse engineer the service in ways that violate applicable law.
The Local Field signal
The Local Field is an experimental feature. It samples device randomness and exposes a statistical deviation from baseline. It is offered as a contemplative signal, not a measurement of you, your state, or your consciousness. No claim of scientific proof, clinical accuracy, or diagnostic value is made.
Contributing observations
Ritual includes an optional “6away Engine Contribution” setting that shares anonymous, structured summaries of your completed sessions to help improve the 6away Engine. It is on by default, can be turned off at any time in Settings, and Ritual works fully without it. No journal, reflection, or free-form text is ever sent, and raw sensor data stays on your device. See the Privacy policy for what is and isn't shared.
Audio and accessibility
Ritual plays sounds. You are responsible for setting your device volume to a safe and comfortable level. If sound is uncomfortable for any reason, mute your device or stop the session.
